Forty Winks Campbelltown City Quake Futsal Club Have 3 Teams In The Grand Final! 16-Feb-09 by Carlos Martinez Forty Winks Campbelltown City Quake Futsal Club will have 3 teams in this years Premier League Grand Finals. From the 4 teams that made the semi-final series, only the Youth Men were unsuccessful, whilst the 14 Boys, 16 Girls and Open Men will contest the Championship on Saturday 21st Feb at the Dural Sports and Leisure Centre. 14 boys Quake 5 (Daniel Vellonio (2), Nicolas Colantonio (2), Patrick Antelmi) Mascot Vipers 4.
This was a great game between the numbers 1 & 2 teams in the League. Ant it was a game worthy of a grand Finals as they both showed their attacking skills. After going to an early 4-1 lead, Quake let their guard down and allowed Vipers back into the match. In the end, Quake emerged winners and will once again play Mascot in the decider as Mascot defeated Sydney City in the preliminary final.
16 Girls Quake 5 (Laura Donelly (3), Linda Dudek, OG) Sydney Magic 5 Pens Quake 3 Magic 2.
What a game this was! Down 2-nil at the break, the Quake girls had an almost perfect second half, forcing the game into extra time. Unable to find the winner, the match was forced into a dramatic penalty shoot-out, won by Quake 3-2. Once again, Quake will play the decider against Sydney Magic who defeated Inner West Allstars in the preliminary final.
Youth Men Quake 1 (Mark Symington) Sydney City 2.
A disappointing end to a great season by the Premiers who were defeated by a better Eagles outfit. Lacking imagination in attack and unable to break down the better organise defensive structure of the Eagles, resulted in the end of the season for the Quake boys. Slow build ups and lack of penetration meant they were easy pickings for Sydney City who scored a goal in each half. They will now play Allstars in the decider.
Men Quake 3 (Simon Keith 2, Tim Simpson) Allstars 2.
This was expected to be a fiery encounter and it did not disappoint. With up to 6 Futsalroos on show, the quality was high, both teams looking for that second Grand Final birth to play against the premiers Sydney Magic. With the game tied at 2-a-piece, it was Simon Keith who broke the deadlock and allowed Quake to hang in for the last 2 minutes and book themselves a spot in the decider.
