Forty Winks Campbelltown City Quake Futsal Club Match Report – Saturday 22nd Nov 2008. 25-Nov-08 by SG QUAKE RIDE COMMODORES TO OVERALL VICTORY
Quake won 5 of their 8 games against a strong Commodores club securing a further 15 points for the Club Championship. Both our defending champions secured comfortable victories but in completely different contrasts. Read on –
12 BOYS: QUAKE 1 v 6 COMMODORES
Our 12 boys were outgunned by a classy Commodores outfit. We struggled to control their bigger and stronger team especially Jordan Nadalin and Richard Darko whom scored 5 goals between them. By halftime it was 3-0 to Commodores but Jack Taseski gave us a glimmer of hope scoring soon after the break. This ignited us somewhat but try as we might we could not get a second. Commodores scored a further 3 goals to secure a fairly comfortable victory. Quake best were GK Conor Irwin and pivot Jack Taseski.
Goal scorer: Jack Taseski.
14 BOYS: QUAKE 5 v 4 COMMODORES
This game was a tale of two halves. It seemed the boys thought this would be an easy win as Commodores were lying seventh on the ladder and their first half display lacked their usual polish. We started well scoring early but then dropped intensity and Commodores went to the break leading 3-2. The second half saw Quake up their tempo but at times looked like they were trying too hard. Luckily for us Patrick Antelmi found his scoring touch and put us in the lead 4-3 with a great strike. However Commodores would not lie down and a defensive error saw them equalise. Patrick scored the winner when he received the ball at target turning his man and blasting home. Quake best were target Patrick Antelm, flanker Jake McGing and GK Andrew Haim.
Goal scorers: Patrick Antelmi, 4, Daniel Vellonio, 1.
13 GIRLS: QUAKE 0 v 1 COMMODORES
This was a sterling performance from our youngest girl’s team who deserved at least a draw but couldn’t find the back of the net. In a fairly even contest stand in GK Wikitoria Rogers pulled off some fine saves in the first half to keep the teams level at the break. Midway through the second half a wayward pass was cut out creating a two on one situation for Commodores and they capitalised to take all 3 points. It was a day when we frustrated the defending champions and proved that we can match it with the best. Quake best were GK Wikitoria Rogers and flanker Ruby Mosca. The Chapman twins also led by example and showed their true class.
Goal scorer: Nil.
16 BOYS: QUAKE 5 v 4 COMMODORES
The 16 boy’s have been our biggest improvers since the start of the season and extended their unbeaten run to 4 games with a thrilling victory to catapult them into semi final contention. In the best game of the night the scores fluctuated throughout and it was anyone’s guess which team was going to take the points. Andrew Quigg was Commodores best and he scored a double to give them the lead. Quake however showed why they have been steadily climbing the ladder with their winner take all attitudes and found a fifth goal to secure the points. Quake best were GK Luke Geary and pivot Saeed Colley plus they were ably supported by a core of the 14 boy’s team.
Goal scorers: Patrick Antelmi, Tim Beasant, Joe Campanelli, Josh curtain and Jake Redman.
16 GIRLS: QUAKE 9 v 2 COMMODORES
The first of our defending Champions left it late to secure a comfortable victory. In a very even first half Quake took the lead only to find themselves a goal behind with 2 quick Commodore goals. We equalised before the break and a few missed opportunities looked as though they could prove costly. It took some time for Quake to get into their stride but a couple of goals near the mid point of the second half helped to open the floodgates. Goal scoring machine Linda Dudek finally got her shots on target and towards the end goals just kept coming. Quake best were target Linda Dudek and flanker Laura Donnelly. Special mention must go to stand in GK Lisa Seeney who pulled off some marvellous saves.
Goal scorers: Linda Dudek, 4, Laura Donnelly, 2, Ivana Bojanovic, 1, Jasmina Kasic, 1 and Zoeie Redman, 1.
YOUTH MEN: QUAKE 7 v 0 COMMODORES
The second of our defending Champions cruised throughout and were never headed by a mediocre opposition. Two early goals set up the victory and all players looked comfortable on the ball. Even when GK Matt Licata was sent off for handling outside the D stand in GK James Gilligan had little to do. All in all a comfortable victory that leaves them at the top of the table. Quake best were pivots Daniel Fulton and Mark Symington as well as flanker David Von Dinklage.
Goal scorers: Daniel Fulton, 2, Ediz Alpkaya, 1, Emmanuel Harihiru, 1, Chris Sheerin, 1, Mark Symington, 1 and David Von Dinklage, 1.
WOMEN: QUAKE 3 v 0 COMMODORES
After last weeks poor performance the Quake Women showed more of their capabilities in this victory against a strong Commodores outfit. GK Ashley Brown was kept busy but pulled off some fine saves to frustrate the visitors and allowed the team to forage forward with purpose. A good goal from Bec gave the team the start they were looking for and Quake went to the break 1-0 up. The second half saw Quake score a further 2 goals to secure victory and keep them in the hunt for a semi final spot. All players performed well so they all deserve to be Quake’s best and a big thank you to the core of 16 girls who stepped up to help the team win.
Goal scorers: Linda Dudek, Rebecca Nelson and Sarah Semaan.
MEN: QUAKE 1 v 5 COMMODORES
The Men started well scoring in the first minute and keeping that lead until half time. Unfortunately that was all there was good about this game and some poor defensive errors proved very costly against an increasingly improving Commodores outfit. It is unlike a Men’s Quake team to leak so many goals in a season and defence seems to be the area that requires improvement if they are going to figure in the end of season final series. Quake best were GK Gavin O’Brien and pivot Simon Keith.
Goal scorer: Tim Simpson.
